MEET THE EXECUTIVE TEAM
Andrew Sperle is a senior Studying Aerospace Engineering. He is originally from Wichita and graduated from Bishop Carroll. After graduating from high school Andrew joined the US Marine Corps. In college Andrew is an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and is also a member of the Fairmount Chapter of Mortar Board. Andrew is also a NASA jumpstarts student and works in the Aircraft Icing lab at WSU. Andrew is in his second year at Wichita State and was a dancer in the 2016 SHOCKERTHON. He comes from a large family with 7 sisters and 3 brothers. His family was lucky enough to receive aid from an organization similar to CMN when he was younger. He stated that this was part of the reason for his involvement with SHOCKERTHON. He wanted to give back to an organization that would help families and make their lives a little better and a little less stressful.
Austin Daniels is a senior at Wichita State studying Entrepreneurship with Real Estate and has received a minor in Spanish. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and has served in several roles for the chapter. Austin became acquainted with Shockerthon during his first semester in college. At that time he was only a dancer participant, but still helped the Executive Team with some tasks. The following year he served as the treasurer for the organization and now he is the Internal Director. It is a privilege for him to be able to serve Shockerthon and the Children's Miracle Network and he thanks all of you for your help and dedication to this cause.
Breanna will be starting her junior year at Wichita State University this coming fall. She is from Haven, KS, which is a small town west of Wichita. At Wichita State, she is studying Criminal Justice and Psychology. Besides SHOCKERTHON, she is also a member of Gamma Phi Beta. She believes that Gamma Phi Beta is such an amazing experience because she gets to have the opportunity to participate in their philanthropies, as well as the philanthropies of other greek organizations.
Prior to SHOCKERTHON 2016, she did not have much experience with Children's Miracle Network. She knew about the greatness of the organization, but she never truly understood the impact until she attended SHOCKERTHON. "It was honestly the most amazing experience," Breanna says. She was able to see the positive impact Children's Miracle Network had on families, and she loved seeing how many people came together for the big event. She saw how Children's Miracle Network helped families who deserately needed it. After attending SHOCKERTHON 2016, she knew she wanted to do something to help with Children's Miracle Network. She loved the event and what it benefitted. She feels like she is extremely blessed to have the position of Fundraising Coordinator. Though she knows it will be a challenge and huge responsibility, she believes that the idea that she is working towards a goal that will help Children's Miracle Network, and in turn help families that need the assistance.
Austin Downey is a Junior at Wichita State studying Finance. Austin first got involved in Shockerthon as a dancer his freshman year after joining the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After attending two Shockerthon events and going on a CMN hospital tour, he felt led to help and joined the Shockerthon Executive team this year as a recruitment coordinator. In his fraternity, he has held two executive positions, including recruitment, and organized an event called Turkey Feed. Outside of school, his hobbies include going to concerts, playing the drums, longboarding, and traveling.
Leonardo is a senior at Wichita State University studying Computer Engineering. He's been a member of the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon for the past three years covering and participated in the previous two Shockerthon big events as well as fundraising. He is originally from Turin, Italy and decided to achieve his BS here in Wichita. After saw the good done by Shockerthon in the past two years, he thought of a way he could help the team to achieve its goal and raise money for the needing kids. That is when he was given the opportunity to take over the position of webmaster on the Shockerthon team. Having personally visited the hospitals and seeing how the money raised is put to use, he is very excited to be part of the Shockerthon group.
Community Relations Coordinator
Michael Benward is a junior at Wichita State, majoring in Pre-Med chemistry. He grew up in small town Cheney, Kansas where he was involved in basketball, football, and golf. Michael enjoys hanging out with friends and reading. He has been involved with shockerthon for 2 years now, with this being his first year on the executive team. The reason he wanted to become involved is because he had a 7 year old cousin pass away from a brain tumor, he wants to be able to help kids with similar issues.
Chase Crenshaw is a Junior at Wichita State double majoring in economics and finance. Chase is from Andover, Kansas, where he graduated from Andover High. He is also an active member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity where he serves as a recruitment chairman. This is also his first Shockerthon. Chase decided to be involved in Shockerthon to help make a direct impact in the lives of children in need, after growing up helping his mother work with kids with special needs. It is truly an honor for Chase to help with this massive event and humbling to be a part of an excellent team.
Family Relations Coordinator
Jami McVay is a senior at WSU. She is pursuing a degree in nursing and plans to attend the WSU Physician Assistant program. Jami is the president of her nursing class and the health chairman for the Community Service Board on campus. Jami is new to SHOCKERTHON; however, she has a long standing with volunteerism and loves working with children.
